Balloon-Back Chairs (Two)
Description
Walnut balloon-back chairs blending Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles. These chairs have hip rests, cabriole legs, rounded upholstered seats and unusually well-carved cartouches. The chairs have a burl veneered center panel with line carvings. Surrounding it are acanthus leaves, scrolls, and a stylized shell top knot. Ribbed carving outline the balloon the balloon backs, hip rests, legs and front wooden skirts. Front feet never had rollers.

Condition
These chairs were recently reglued, refinished, and reupholstered in period style gold damask. The upholstery pattern and depth were copied as closely as possible.
