Garden Planters (two) cast iron

Description

Two large cast iron planters in the shape of classical urns on separate plinth bases. The trumpet-form vessel with rounded, flanged rim and bulbous lower body, over lower stem and flared foot. The ground a deep green paint. The rim with a cast off and dart pattern; the bulbous section with lobed sides. The two handles with lion masks. The vessel and plinth sides with a cast motif incorporating a flower, thistle, clover, and swags. Some rusting over exposed areas.

Each 43 1/2" high x 22 3/8" diameter.

American, late 19th century.
