Title

White Marble Bust

Description

White marble bust (ca. 1890) sitting on green marble base. The flowing hair and classical shoulder drapery are typical of many late 19th-century busts.
There is a history of three generations of Lyndon ownership. It was used originally in the Lyndon House.
Signature possibly "Bichy" but artist not determined.

From Burke Hodgson:
"This marble bust sat on the bookcase in my grandmother's living room and collected dust for 50 years. It then sat on a bookcase in my mother's living room and collected dust for another 50 years. It is too old to have been one of my grandmother's wedding presents and probably came from the Lyndon House."
