Portrait of a Young Lady
Title
Portrait of a Young Lady
Description
Small portrait of a young lady in a gilded laurel leaf flame. This style of clothing on the young lady and the stylized cap are typical of the late 19th century depiction of colonial era clothing. Pieces such as this framed portrait were often completed by young ladies in finishing schools at the turn of the century. This is a Hodgson family item.
From Burke Hodgson:
"I'm not sure where this painting came from. I think it belonged to my grandmother, Marie Lowe Hodgson."
